Abstract

Einleitend wird auf die bildungspolitisch relevanten Einflussfaktoren bei der Berufs- und Bildungswahl in Österreichs Schulsystem eingegangen. Eine qualitätsvolle Berufsorientierung ist den Interessenvertretungen der ArbeitnehmerInnen bildungspolitisch ein wichtiges Anliegen. Es werden vom Autor, dem Koordinator des Serviceangebots für Schulen der AK Wien und des ÖGB: „Arbeitswelt und Schule“, die gesellschaftspolitischen Aspekte der Berufsorientierung dargelegt. Neben einer kurzen Darstellung der gesetzlichen Rahmenbedingungen des Berufsorientierungsunterrichts, wird die gängige Praxis an den Schulen, unter Bezugnahme der vorhandenen Studien, analysiert. Abschließend werden die Forderungen der AK zum Berufsorientierungsunterricht präsentiert.

Vocational orientation from the perspective of the AK

This paper opens with an analysis of the relevant influential factors, in educational and political terms, for vocational choice and choice of study pathway in Austria 's school system. A high-quality vocational orientation is an important educational and political issue for the employee representative bodies. The author presents the socio-political aspects of vocational orientation, drawing on his experience as the co-ordinator of the services on offer for schools of the AK in Vienna and the ÖGB, ‘the world of work and school'. As well as a brief outline of the legal framework of teaching in vocational orientation, the current practice at schools is analysed, using published studies. The paper closes with the demands of the AK regarding the teaching of vocational orientation.
