The BLK (Bund-Länder Kommission) pilot project segel-bs (the German title stands for: self-regulated learning in areas of learning at vocational schools) has as its primary goal the development of learning situations which promote self-regulated learning.
The successful promotion of self-regulated learning is impossible without relevant qualifications for the teachers. This means that the analysis of curricula, the development of a conceptual
position towards this theme and the establishment of a concept for cross-curricular co-operation between teachers all place high demands on the participating teachers, and they need to be suitably prepared to meet these challenges. The same is also true of the development, implementation and
evaluation of relevant teaching and learning arrangements. In the context of the segel-bs project there was another project which developed and tested an integrated concept for the professional development of teachers, which aims to provide preparation and qualification for teachers who would like
to promote self-regulated learning at vocational schools (and especially in those schools which use curricula structured according to the principle of areas of learning).
Within this concept the following decisions were made and implemented: 1) the starting point is the development of the competence of the teachers who would like to take self-regulated learning into account more strongly in their teaching. 2) Beginning with the process of cross-curricular co-operation
between teachers, a modularised concept of developing teacher competence emerged. 3) The qualification of teachers and the materials that were developed for this purpose are well-suited to becoming a blended learning measure. 4) It may also be possible to transfer the concept to teachers who
are active in other educational pathways and other school forms than the Dual System.
